The Weekly Optimization Routine
What you’ll learn
- Why consistent weekly work beats one-time setup
- A day-by-day routine you can actually follow
- The specific triggers for each action
- When to leave campaigns alone
Here’s the truth about Walmart Connect: results come from consistent weekly management, not clever setup. The advertisers who win aren’t the ones with a perfect launch — they’re the ones who run the same disciplined routine every week. Here’s a routine you can adopt directly.
The weekly rhythm
Monday — Search Terms
Pull the Search Term Report, sort by spend. Add terms with ~$3+ spend and zero orders as negatives. Flag terms with 2+ orders at or below target ACoS to promote.
Tuesday — Bids
For keywords with 30+ clicks, compare actual ACoS to target. Over target → lower the bid. Comfortably under → raise it to win more.
Thursday — Graduate
Move converting search terms (~3+ orders) that haven’t been promoted yet into exact-match manual keywords. Don’t let winners sit in auto.
Friday — Placement & Product
Review placement performance and per-product results. Adjust placement multipliers; note products that need attention.
The monthly check
Once a month (or every two weeks), pull performance by product. The key diagnostic:
Any product with 50+ clicks and below a ~3% conversion rate is a listing problem, not an advertising problem. No bid change fixes a page that doesn’t convert — flag it for listing optimisation instead. Conversely, a product with strong conversion and efficient ACoS deserves more budget and bolder bids.
The discipline of waiting
The routine above is for established campaigns. New campaigns need the opposite treatment: leave them alone for 3–4 weeks to gather data before optimising. Acting on a handful of clicks means reacting to noise. Set it, let it run, then start the weekly rhythm once there’s real signal.
You don’t need to stare at the account daily. A focused hour on the right day each week — search terms, bids, graduation, placements — keeps an account healthy far better than anxious constant tinkering. Consistency is the whole game.
Quick recap
- Consistent weekly management, not setup, is what drives Walmart Connect results.
- Run a rhythm: Mon search terms, Tue bids, Thu graduate winners, Fri placements & products.
- Monthly, flag any product with 50+ clicks and <3% CVR as a listing problem.
- Leave new campaigns alone for 3–4 weeks — optimise on data, not noise.
